My New Year's resolution is - not to make a New Year's resolution. This saves a lot of stress and enables me to continue smoking without feeling guilty.
I shall continue to try to play to a ridiculously low handicap, earned many years ago, which the AFG seem unable, or unwilling to adjust upward.
But enough of my problems. Let's see what treats are in store in 2008.
A few months ago, the newly formed Golf Leisure Breaks golf society arranged for it's members a weekend trip to the Antequera Golf Hotel for a two nights stay and two rounds of golf. The trip was so successful, that the whole group insisted on a return visit and reserved place immediately, as did others who missed out first time round. The golf hotel management were also keen for the society to return, so arrangements have been made for the weekend commencing Friday 25th January. The trip is already well subscribed, so members should book now to avoid disappointment. If you are not a member of the GLB golf society, you can join for a mere 30 euros and receive a logo'd society polo shirt, free of charge and access to some drastically reduced green fees.
Our hardworking staff recently scouted the golf situation in the province of Cádiz with a view to arranging more weekend trips later in the year. Among those visited were the magnificent five star Fairplay Golf Hotel, situated in the Benalup Golf Club, Arcos Gardens Golf Resort near Arcos de la Frontera and the Dehesa Montenmedio Golf Club near Tarifa. All these venues are less than two hours' coach drive from the Costa del Sol and negotiations are underway for a trip in the Spring.
