The 2nd weekend jaunt to Antequera, organized by the Golf Leisure Breaks Golf Society, was every bit as successful as the first (November 2007). Once again, the Antequera Golf Hotel did us proud, with its large beautifuly appointed double rooms, facilities and service worthy of more than its four stars. The hotel's coach collected members from several points along the coast, delivering us safely on the Friday evening in good time for dinner, returning us on the Sunday evening.
The Antequera golf course is quite challenging, but very spectacular, which to be fair, could not be said of the scoring. However, competition for the 2nd Antequera Trophy was close and exciting, with only 3 shots separating 4 players after the first day. Scoring improved dramatically on the second day, the trophy and 1st prize being won by Derek Febry, 5 shots clear of runner-up Bob Manning.
Golfers and non-golfers alike, all agreed that the weekend represented great value at 174€ per head and are looking forward to the next weekend trip. This is planned for April or May to one of the golf resort hotels in the Cádiz province, with the exact date and venue to be announced in the near future. Watch this space! |
