Park your buggy/golf bag on the side of the green nearest to the next tee; above all, don't embark on a shaggy dog story when your audience is about to play his shot!
Back in the good old days, our threesome in the monthly medal used to complete our round in about three hours. Over three and a half hours, and the club secretary would require an explanation, which would need to include at least one heart attack to avoid a serious reprimand. So imagine my surprise to learn that the european tour regards somewhat more than 4 hours as reasonable for a 2 ball to complete the course. Bear in mind that players on the european tour would qualify for handicaps of about +4, so why should a match comprising four 24 handicappers, playing in buggies (not allowed on the fairways) be expected to get round in a little over 4 hours? Well, believe it or not, it is quite easy to do, without having to run between shots. Simply follow these simple guidelines: be ready to play your shot when your turn comes; take 2 or 3 clubs when crossing the fairway to play your approach shot: mark your score card on the next tee; park your buggy/golf bag on the side of the green nearest to the next tee and above all, don't embark on a shaggy dog story when your audience is about to play his shot!
Paul Lawrie @ La Cala
Paul Lawrie, the last European winner of a major, recently visited the TaylorMade Performance Lab at La Cala for a press launch of the Quad and Bubble drivers. Lawrie was full of praise for both the Performance Lab and for the La Cala set-up. Ryan Lauder, representing TaylorMade, was also complimentary about the facilities and service offered by La Cala, with it's 3 courses, on-site hotel, Lead-better Academy and it's proximity to Málaga's inter-national airport.
