Here on the Costa del Golf, June is traditionally the beginning of the summer "low" season, which means the introduction of some very keen greenfees. often including a shared buggy. This is good news, especially for resident golfers who enjoy taking part in the regular Golf Leisure Breaks stableford competitions. As from 1st June, green fees, including entry to the competitions, will be as follows:
CALANOVA (Fridays, including buggy) 55 euros: CABOPINO (Saturdays, including buggy) 45 euros: SANTA MARIA (Mondays, including buggy*) 50 euros: EL CHAPARRAL (Tuesdays, including buggy) 62 euros): PARADOR (Wednesdays) 53 euros.
*SANTA MARIA Buggy included from 18th. June.
The Golf Leisure Breaks competitions have been running for the past 12 years, and have been enjoyed by a healthy mix of residents and visitors. All are welcome to join in and enjoy some friendly competition and sociable company. But a word of advice from one who has played regularly throughout the summer months, when temperatures can exceed 35º - Be Prepared! Drink plenty of water (save the beer for the 19th. hole): wear a wide brimmed hat and use plenty of high factor sun cream. A golf course is as good a place to be as any during the summer, especially in a windscreen-less buggy providing a cooling breeze as you cruise along the fairways. Or you could go shopping in an air-conditioned supermarket. No contest!
