A BIG THANKS TO THE IRISH
Golf Leisure Breaks organizes four stableford competitions each week and the chances are that in any one of them, an Irishman will be in the frame. This is because week in, week out, Irishmen from both the Republic and from Northern Ireland, make up about half of the field on any given day. Many have become good friends (probably because I’m always giving them trophies and/or prizes), not only with me, but with others who join us on a regular basis.
A major factor which has made these competitions so popular is that over the course of the thirteen years since they began, a comeraderie has been built up, as regular visitors know that they are almost certainly going to bump into someone they know from previous visits.
Thus the competitions have taken on the quality of a golf society, a quality which has recently been converted into fact, with the formation of the Golf Leisure Breaks Golf Society.
As readers may already have guessed, membership includes many Irishmen, and in recognition of this, we will be organizing a special St. Patrick’s Day competition on Monday 17th March at the popular Sta. Maria Golf Club. You don’t have to be Irish to enter, the competition is open to all-comers, but the ambience will be competitive, but friendly, as you would expect from any event in which the Irish are involved. There will be plenty of great prizes and the Guinness will flow! To enter, call Julie or Leila now on 952 582 943. |
