Golf's Vicious Circle
No handicap, no golf. No golf, no handicap. Sounds impossible, doesn't it? Obviously, it isn't, because there wouldn't be millions of club golfers with official handicaps. But getting started isn't easy, unless you know how. This is why several years ago, Golf Leisure Breaks established a special weekly event at the Greenlife nine-hole par three course. The idea was to give newcomers to this wonderful game of golf the opportunity to get started, learn how to play and to obtain an official handicap, so that they could play on any course in the world.
From the start, the morning was organized by our own Mandy Clayden and began with a free lesson with a resident professional at the Positive Golf Academy, with practice balls provided. Once a learner is confident of making reasonable contact with the ball, he is ready to venture on to this pleasant par three nine-hole course with others of similar ability and learn what golf is all about.
Many of our Thursday regulars now have official handicaps, organized through the Greenlife Club & Positive Golf Academy and are now able to play regularly on other courses and in other competitions. More importantly, newcomers are taught the basic rules of golf and how to conduct themselves on the golf course. Those who spend a significant amount of time here on the Coast can also become members of the Federación de Golf de Andalucía (IF), which offers many important advantages.
Our Thursday get-together’s continue every week at 10:00 am and newcomers are welcome. The entry fee of 30 euros includes practice balls, a lesson with a golf professional and 9 holes on the Greenlife par-three course. It's fun, it's interesting and if you're new to the game, it's the best way to get started Just call Julie or Leila at 952 582 943 now! |
