Where's our weather?
Recent fluctuations in weather patterns, unusal for the coast during April, have caused havoc for tourists and residents alike.
Rain, thunder and lightening have strangely alternated with warm sunny weather, while many parts of northern Europe have enjoyed semi-tropical weather more usually associated with the Costa del Sol. Consequently, visiting groups of golfers have been tearing up and down the coast, seeking a playable golf course when the one originally booked has had to close. Unfortunately, several of the popular Golf Leisure Breaks stableford competitions had to be cancelled during this period, but as I write, it would seem that the normally benign weather is returning. A strange phenomenon has been that areas only a few kilometres apart can experience totally different weather conditions. So the moral is, always turn up for your appointed start time, even if the weather viewed through your bedroom window looks unpromising. On several occasions, many of the golfers playing in the GLB competitions enjoyed perfect playing conditions, while more pessimistic "fair weather" golfers missed out, because of an unfavourable weather forecast.
Most British golfers tend to take weather forecasts with a pinch of salt anyway. Roll on summer
