World Record Attempt
The Costa del Sol Hippodrome in Mijas is also collaborating with the event, renaming the first race of their meeting on July 14th as the Record de Golf Solidario La Cala Resort – UNICEF.
La Cala Resort’s attempt to write its name into the Guinness World Records for the highest number of golfers to play in a single competition in one day is receiving great support not just from players but also from important organisations. The competition will raise funds for UNICEF, which provides long-term humanitarian and developmental assistance to children and mothers in developing countries. It takes place on Sunday, July 22nd in collaboration with Mijas Town Hall. Other important organisations to lend their active support include: Patronato de Turismo Costa del Sol, Turismo Andaluz, Promotur, AEHCOS, AESGOLF and the golf federations of Andalucía and Madrid.
La Cala Resort in Mijas, Málaga is Spain’s largest golf resort with three 18-hole courses as well as a par 3 layout. The format of the competition, involving all three courses, reflects the size of the La Cala complex. Teams of three will compete with one member playing each of the courses. The winning team will be that with the best combined total. There are great prizes on offer. The winning team and their partners will each get a night’s stay in Hotel La Cala with free golf and use of the popular Caracala Spa.
The Costa del Sol Hippodrome in Mijas is also collaborating with the event, renaming the first race of their meeting on July 14th as the Record de Golf Solidario La Cala Resort – UNICEF. There will also be a stand where people can enter the competition.
Entry fees have been set at only €20 per person, including buggies. It is hoped that between 600 and 800 players will take part and there are still some places available.
