Golf - Another Option
Other gems on the Costa de la Luz include the beautiful Dehesa Montenmedio course and the Costa Ballena course, designed by José María Olazabal.
For many, the Costa del Golf is synonymous with holiday golf in Spain and in terms of the variety and quality of the golf courses on the Costa del Sol, it can still offer great value for money when the right courses are chosen, together with the right time of year. However, in recent years, other areas in southern Spain have been developing their own golf tourism, resulting in stiff competition from Almeria, Huelva and Cádiz. An important factor to succeed as a popular golf destination is the availability of a choice of good golf courses within easy reach of a central area, and the Costa de la Luz in the province of Cádiz has now achieved this criterion with about a dozen courses close to the towns of Cádiz and Jerez, which provides another essential ingredient - an international airport.
Seeking to improve even further it's service to it's clients, Golf Leisure Breaks has been visiting the Costa de la Luz with a view to offering an even greater choice in terms of a new golf venue. The Costa de la Luz already boasts two well known and well established golf courses of the highest quality - Novo Sancti Petri, one of Seve Ballesteros' more successful designs, and Montecastillo, which received world-wide TV coverage as temporary host to the Volvo Masters while Valderrama prepared for and hosted the Ryder Cup. Other gems include the beautiful Dehesa Montenmedio course and the Costa Ballena course, designed by José María Olazabal.
As a new golf destination, Cádiz enjoys two major advantages - it is relatively unspoilt as far as property development is concerned and on average, green fees during the high season are extremely competitive. The Costa de la Luz might also appeal to locally based golfers who would enjoy a weekend away - some of the hotels offer great golf-inclusive deals. Meanwhile, Golf Leisure Breaks have already negotiated some very good rates for this summer and for next winter. For more information, call Julie on 952 582 943 or visit www.mygolfinspain.com |
